Leggings

Leggings

The Iceman wore stocking-like leggings made of goatskin or sheepskin. They were made by stitching together several pieces of hide with animal sinew.

The trouser legs weren’t joined and only went up to the top of the thighs. Leather strips tied to Ötzi’s belt stopped the leggings from slipping down.

Leggings

At the bottom they were attached to the shoes with a kind of lace. The laces were made of deerhide, an animal that Ötzi hunted.
